Young Minds

Mental wellbeing & connection for immigrant youth

A preventive, community-based project strengthening mental wellbeing, connection and belonging for young people from immigrant and multicultural backgrounds.

About the project

Many young people experience loneliness, social isolation, difficulties with belonging, integration barriers and uncertainty around education, employment and accessing services. Young Minds creates low-threshold opportunities for young people to meet others, receive guidance and develop practical tools to support their own wellbeing — using community activities as a bridge to participation and early support.

What we do

  • Peer support and safe community meeting spaces
  • Mental wellbeing and self-care activities
  • Discussions on stress, confidence and healthy relationships
  • Individual low-threshold guidance
  • Education and employment guidance
  • Sport, football and community activities
  • Peer-mentor development
  • Information about available support and services

Who it is for

Young people approximately 13–29 who may experience loneliness or isolation, difficulty building social networks, challenges with belonging and participation, integration or language barriers, uncertainty about education or employment, or reduced confidence in seeking help.

Objective & expected outcomes

We aim for less loneliness, better wellbeing awareness, stronger participation, earlier support-seeking, greater confidence and stronger peer networks. Young Minds is a preventive community-based initiative — it does not replace professional mental-health services.
